I come from a long line of gardeners. On my paternal side I have an ancestor who was an herbalist and healer near the end of the 17th century; on my maternal side my great grandfather was a member of the Royal Horticultural Society, he grew orchids and pioneered the growing of tomatoes under glass.
I remember as a child that my parents landscaped our yard beautifully, and I remember being so proud when I overheard someone say it was the nicest yard in town. I grew up learning the names of all the flowers of garden, forest and field, and know my Mom would be proud of the beautiful yard I now have, in large part thanks to her influence and inspiration!
